1. Millennium Dental Technologies Inc. in Cerritos, California noted that two new scientific studies have shown that its PerioLase MVP-7 selectively destroys Porphyromonas gingivalis. The amount of pigmentation in this bacterium does not have an effect on the laser’s ability to kill it.

2. Lion Corporation in Japan launched the Salivary Multi Test device throughout Japan. The equipment is priced at $1900 and measures six analytes including white blood cells that are indicators of oral health. Lion spent 7 years developing the product in conjunction with a local school of dentistry. www.lion.co.jp/en

3. Kerr Corporation in Orange, California is celebrating its 125th anniversary of serving the US and worldwide dental industries. The company, part of the KaVo Kerr Group, plans several activities at the upcoming NY Dental Meeting. www.kerrdental.com

4. CareCredit, Costa Mesa, California-based subsidiary of Synchrony Financial, launched a new service called Pay My Provider. This new program allows existing CareCredit customers to utilize a new payment portal to settle outstanding billings for previously received treatments. The company also signed a multi-year extension of its exclusive endorsement agreement with the American Dental Association Business Enterprises Inc. group. No financial details of the arrangement were disclosed.

5. Investigating a claim of stolen property, Georgia police officers made an unexpected discovery – two men running a dental office without a license.Two men were subsequently arrested: Yuri Aleksandruk, the alleged illegal dentist, and Peter Kiriliuk, a landlord accused of helping hide the practice.
