  1. Establish a recall system, write it up, train staff on it and follow it exactly.
  2. Print business cards for each of your team members, encourage them to pass them out.
  3. Implement welcome letters for all new patients.
  4. Implement no cavity letters for children under age 10 and include stickers.
  5. Take before and after pictures of your patients for an album, but always get them to sign a photography release form.
  6. Buy space in local school yearbooks.
  7. Create a quarterly newsletter to send to your patients and local homeowners.
  8. Teach a class in oral health at the local community center.
  9. Sponsor a local sports team.
  10. Have your hygienist visit nearby elementary schools and present OHI to students. Give away toothbrushes with your practice name on them.
  11. Volunteer to speak to local clubs and community groups on oral health topics.
  12. Send cards acknowledging patient birthdays, graduations, weddings etc. Keep a supply of cards on hand and have everyone on staff sign them.
  13. Have each of your staff send two handwritten notes each week to patients that have not been in within the past 12 months and/or patients that have been ill.
  14. Send hot boxed lunches to professional referral sources.
  15. Send welcome letters to new residents in the area.
  16. Create a team album for the reception room with photos and bio’s.
  17. Send a thank you letter to every patient that refers a new patient. Include a business card.
  18. Put fresh fruit at the front desk with a nice note that says “Take One”.
  19. Make post-operative treatment calls.
  20. Provide headsets for patients to listen to music while in the chair.
  21. Have televisions in each operatory.
  22. Reward patients with flowers and gift cards after they refer several new patients. Verify with your state board that you can do this.
  23. Keep a supply of umbrellas to give to patients on rainy days.
  24. Have a coffee bar in your reception room.
  25. Stay on time. If you are running late, call your patient and let them know.
  26. Sponsor a scholarship fund for a high school in your area.
  27. Give your new patients a gift on their first visit.
  28. Give patients a gift card if you keep them waiting or something upsets them.
  29. Have a computer in the reception room, computer games for kids and wireless internet.
  30. Do a Reactivation Project once a year.
