Abstract: This case outlines the dental lab process to finishing a denture in preparation for All-On-4 surgery. When this case is complete it will be ready for surgery and conversion to All-On-4 prosthesis.
Equipment: Stratos 200 articulator, Renfert chisel, IvoBase, NSK Handpiece
This case begins with the wax up complete and the denture already processed in IvoBase. It is important to note the model with waxed up denture must be soaked in water before flasking in order to retrieve the model from processing. During deflasking retrieve the model and denture in one piece. This enables the technician to put the model back on the articulating plate to check the bite before the denture is removed from the model.
Once the bite is confirmed, separate the denture from the model. Kinetic uses compressed air power pillo chisel. Next, trim the denture based on the doctors’ preference. In this case we will trim the denture leaving all the flanges, same as it would be on a regular full denture. This works in case on day of surgery the implants cannot be loaded the patient can use this denture after surgery. Leaving the flanges on the denture also requires a surgical guide.
After trimming Kinetic technicians put the denture in a stone and plaster remover with water solution in a sonic to remove any remaining debris and stone. Dentures for surgery cases should not be high polished, but should be rough to ensure the acrylic added on the day of conversion bonds to the denture. This case is complete and ready for the day of surgery!
