Five Types of Dentists You Meet At CE

If you're a dentist, than you'll understand what makes dental CE so unique.

Dentists you meet during CE. We all remember those first couple of days (or even weeks) of dental school. Nerves ran high and the lack of familiar faces was a shock to the system. Thankfully, we got to know our classmates and each class had it’s own particular dynamic.

CE lets us return to a version of that environment. Part of the fun is reminiscing about our own unique quirks and the funny memories we have of learning together back in the day.

So without further ado, let’s take a trip down memory lane:

5 Types of Dentists You Meet During CE

The Overachiever

There is always a dentist in the group who asks a question every twenty seconds. Doesn't their arm get tired from waving it around? Honestly, they’re just trying to get the most out of the course. At least they’re not afraid to speak up.

The "Real" Expert

Nine times out of ten, there’s someone in the course who knows more about the subject than the lecturer. You’ll wonder why they're there. Who knows? Maybe they were enticed by the lecturer's devilish charm and dashing good looks (or the promise of bacon-wrapped cheese hors d’oeuvres).

The Sorority Sisters (or Frat Brothers)

It really is like college, isn’t it? In any given CE course, there will be the people who stake out their seats ahead of time and get upset if anyone sits in them. These folks like to stick together. Give them a day or two and they’ll loosen up.

Teacher's Pet

Similar to the overachiever, but with a different type of boldness. The Teacher's Pet will sit in the empty front row all by themselves. Smack dab in the middle. This may cause the lecturer to feel less like a pariah with an infectious disease. At least someone isn’t afraid to get close!

The Wunderkind

Last but not least, there’s the person that shows up with photographs and models from fifteen cases to discuss with the lecturer. (Fourteen is okay, but fifteen is pushing it.) Hoping to learning every advanced technique in 2 days. You got to love their ambition.

The truth is, dental CE wouldn’t be the same without all the different types of dentists who show up. It becomes a dynamic that often ends in friendship, learning, and a whole lot of adult beverages fun. Each person adds to the personality of an enjoyable course.

Did we miss a common CE dentist or did we hit the nail on the head? Let us know in the comments!
