Dr. William Dragan:

I graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1958,the beginning of the new age of dentistry. I have spent over 40 years at the dental chair. During those 40 years I have been fortunate to have created Centrix and been part of the team that has created many first in dentistry. Some of the products that you may recognize are: The CR Syringe with disposable tubes and plugs; the Mark III power handle syringe for composites; the preloaded capsules for light activated composites; the BendaBrush the first totally disposable brush applicator. Also Needle Tubes for the placement of dental materials into difficult areas; Encore paste/paste core paste formulated to work with the Needle Tube; Tempit, a preloaded variety of temporary stopping materials; Supercure a light activated core build up material also in a convenient capsule package. Recently we have developed D/Sense Crystal a one step desensitizing solution packaged in a easy dispense syringe with a SofNeedle (the SofNeedle is a sponge tipped needle to apply the D/Sense Crystal without scratching or damaging the tooth or tissue.

Also we have developed NoMix temporary crown and bridge cement along with convenient take home emergency packets for your patient. Last but not least this month we are introducing GingiTrac our silicone based formula  no cord retraction system. There were and are many other products that we offer to the dental profession but why, where, how and when did these ideas and products develop.

Wet finger dentists encounter many situations working everyday at the chair. As dentists we have great advantage in recognizing opportunities that everyday problems present to us because we are intimately involved. What a wonderful chance to create  a new and exciting way to change the way dentistry is practiced and advance its

art and science. “Necessity is the mother of invention “ who but the dentist has this great opportunity to innovate.

After 5 or 6 years  I was unhappy and depressed with my first dental office and the patients that were there. I was in a rut and so I began to think of possible ideas that I could patent that would make me rich so I wouldn’t have to be a dentist any more. Today I guess you would call it burn out. I therefore came up with my first patent a syringe for rubber base.(Patent) It was no better then the syringes already on the market, an expensive lesson but a nice certificate. This didn’t stop me. I started to dream up ideas that had no connection with dentistry. I dreamed up candle patents. I next received a patent for a convertible chandelier another product that I had no business trying to develop and/or market.(Chandelier Patent) I eventually learned the hard way after spending a lot of money on  patents, prototypes and trying to sell my ideas.
