5 Ways to Get Your TEAM to Perform Without You!

I have heard so many business owners say that their team doesn't perform or are that they are lazy. Others say that there are no good employees. However, what business owners must realize, is that in order for their team to be most efficient and effective, they must be properly trained. Employees must know exactly what you want from them.

This means ensuring that your team knows what their key performance indicators (KPIs) are, and what tasks they must focus on for maximum productivity and efficiency. Each employee is there to perform specific tasks to grow the business. However, they must know what 20% of their tasks bring about 80% of results, and focus on that 20%.

Here are 5 Tops Ways to Increase Team Productivity:

1.) Positional Contracts with KPIs-  Every employee should be given a Positional Contract which lists what they must do daily, weekly, and monthly.  Once they know what is required of the job, they will focus on those most important tasks.

2.) Provide Training Manuals for your Team- This manual includes videos and webinars that new hires must watch, step by step checklists including photos for each task to be performed, and training schedules with objectives for each week.

3.) Weekly Lunch and Learns-  Take one day per week to bring in lunch and work on training with your team. This includes verbal and communication training, training to enhance the quality of the service offering, or script training. This time can also be used for planning community service events as well as for team building.  If there is anything that needs to be improved in the business, brainstorming for improvement and action steps can be designed in this session.

4.) Team Book Clubs- This is huge!  An empowered team is a better team.  Provide your team with the tools for success.  All of my team members have kindles, and we use Whispercast to send books to them for their personal development. A few great team books are "Eat that Frog" by Brian Tracy, "The Compound Effect" by Darren Hardy, and "What Got you Here Won't Get You There", by Marshall Goldsmith.

5.) Quarterly or Biannual Assessment and Review-  It is very important for your team to know how they are performing and if they are meeting or exceeding your expectations.  Every quarter or biannually, make sure to conduct a performance review.  Provide a self assesment for your team to rate themselves on their performance. Also have each team member assessed by management and/or the owner.  This review is what should be used to determine the level of bonus or pay increase that the employee will receive in the future.  It is a great opportunity to verbally recognize outstanding performance, as well as to identify areas for improvement.

Once your team knows what to do, is trained, and knows that they are being held accountable for their actions, they will perform, and your business will receive massive results!
