9 Steps For A Dentist To Become CEO Quickly

Some dentists work their entire lives for the hope of one day becoming the CEO of their company. And while many will argue that the tortoise beat the hare, the truth of the matter is that some people simply won’t want to waste anytime in their efforts to becoming a CEO. This makes sense, considering those that want to be CEOs are often the type of people that want to accomplish many things in their lifetime. If this sounds like you, then here are 9 steps that a dentist can follow to become the CEO quickly.

Excel In Academics

In order to get recognized at an early age, you’ll want to make sure that you are doing whatever you have to in order to excel while you are getting your education. There are plenty of times when a professor or a teacher will pick out the best student and help them get a great job, which could mean that you get a massive head start during your aspirations to being the CEO of a dental company. If you slouch off and expect to not get things going until college, you’ll be in for a rude awakening when you realize that others are already ahead of you.

Plan Your Path

Planning your path is going to be one of the most key parts of your move to becoming the CEO. For example, you may really want to work with a company that you admire. However, pretend that they have someone who was recently promoted to CEO. It’s possible that person may have another 20 or 30 years in them in the position. Therefore, you should instead take the time to look over the companies that would line up best with your goals. If you find a CEO who may be retiring or leaving in the next 5-10 years, that may be an ideal place for you to go.

Do What Others Won’t

There are going to be a lot of dentists who won’t want to work weekends or holidays. They won’t want to deal with the obnoxious clients or even work more than what’s expected. Those who want to be the CEO cannot fall into this same category. Instead, they need to push themselves to do things that others won’t. This will stand out to bosses and management, which could help you get promotions early on in your career.

Network With Anyone And Everyone

Whether it’s the janitor that cleans the bathroom or the current CEO, it’s best that you network with every single person that you meet. Being the CEO isn’t just about moving to a new office. It’s about knowing the company inside and out. What better way to know the company than by meeting everyone that you possible can. In addition, you never know who you’ll network with that may one day want to put you as the CEO.

Find Out What Others Did, And Do It Faster

Take a look at the people that you admire. Did the current CEO do something unique that set them apart from others? If so, then you need to do it faster than they did. Show people that you are an innovator and a trend setter, and they will think those are good leadership qualities for their business.

Bring In Clients

The more that you can help the company grow, the more likely it is that they are going to trust you to run it. Start with your family and move on to friends and before you know it, you’ll have a client-base of thousands of people. No one in the company will be able to ignore those type of numbers.

Represent The Company In A Positive Light

Your company wants to have a CEO that represents them in a positive light. Therefore, do your best to stand out and continually impress others. Get involved in the community or offer free teeth cleanings. Whatever it is that you do, you’ll look good in the public eye because of it, and your company will want you to be in charge.

Become Respected

If you really want to ascend to being the CEO as quickly as possible, find a way to get respected by your peers. Consider writing a book or getting published in a well-known magazine. Or you may want to teach at a well-respected university during your nights. The more respect you get, the better your resume will look when being considered for a CEO position.

Avoid Slowing Down

No matter how quickly you become successful or what you achieve, it’s important that you never slow down. Even if your goal was to become the CEO in ten years, do it in five. Always push yourself and you’ll be surprised with what you can accomplish.
