ATLANTA—Flax Dental, an Atlanta-based cosmetic and restorative dental practice that specializes in full-mouth restorations, implants, and advanced laser dentistry, is now accepting applications for its “Knowledge Matters Flax Dental Scholarship Program.”

Every year Flax Dental awards $1,000 to a local student pursuing a dental assistant program or dental hygiene program at a Georgia college or university. Last year’s award went to Georgia State University student Autumn Dipietro.

To qualify for a scholarship, students must be college students, prospective college students, or graduating high school seniors in Georgia with a cumulative minimum GPA of at least a 3.0 (4.0 scale). Applicants must submit a 400 to 600-word essay, which will be judged on the its effectiveness in presenting a personal point of view, clear communication, and originality. Flax Dental will accept applications between June 1 and September 25, 2016 and the winner will be announced in October 2016.

An Atlanta-based accredited cosmetic dentist, Dr. Hugh Flax has dedicated his career to advancing the profession of dentistry. Flax served as past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), and he is also co-founder of the Georgia Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He lectures nationally and internationally, teaching other dentists advanced techniques in cosmetic and restorative dentistry.

“At Flax Dental, we believe that knowledge matters when it comes to dentistry. It takes extensive knowledge and skill to provide patients with the highest standard of dental care. That’s why we like to say, ‘At Flax, Dental, what we know will make you smile.’ We want the next generation of dental professionals to be able to, not only share in that knowledge, but also build upon it to take the dental profession even further in the future,” said Flax.
