SEATTLE—Communicating with patients in the dental industry is forever changed. Patients and dental offices are no longer tethered to a phone call for scheduling appointments and answering questions.

Zipwhip’s conversational texting technology is fast tracking its way into the dental industry allowing patients to text the existing phone number of their dental office where they have been historically limited to calling only. "Call or Text" is becoming the new norm for patient communication and dentists are saving time and money, all the while providing a better customer experience.

Now in its eighth year, the Cellerant “Best of Class” Technology Award (formerly the Pride “Best of Class” Technology Award) continues to lead the profession’s evolving conversation about dental technology through its recognition and education around excellence in dental innovation.

For 2016, Zipwhip is one of those celebrated as “Best of Class", specifically being recognized in the Emerging Technology category.

"Zipwhip has the distinction of being the only Best of Class Emerging Technology award winner for 2016,” said Dr. Lou Shuman Cellerant CEO and Best of Class founder. “Our panel immediately recognized the significant impact that Zipwhip’s proven technology will bring to the dental community."

“To be honored as ‘Best of Class’ is a sign that a product has revolutionized, simplified or advanced its category in a distinctive way,” he added. “The manufacturers represented here are creating new norms for how dental practices should operate today and will in the future. Our foundation for success in bringing attention to these products remains simple: technology leadership in dentistry, unbiased, a rigorous and transparent selection process, and not for profit."

Last year Zipwhip was referred to by Forbes as "slightly less sexy, but arguably more impactful" when compared to messengers that require consumers to download their app. With Zipwhip, the consumer and in this case the patient, isn't required to do anything new—they just keep sending and receiving texts like they do today, but now those messages show up on the office manager's computer at work.

“We’re thrilled to have won this award! For me personally, I see this is a testament to our vision and the years of hard work we put in to build this industry. We believed with conviction that consumers wanted to text businesses as naturally as they did with their friends, and this award validates just that. Dental offices are making more connections with consumers using our service, and more importantly consumers prefer it,” said John Lauer, Zipwhip CEO.
