ATLANTA—Flax Dental, an Atlanta-based cosmetic and restorative dental practice that specializes in full-mouth restorations, implants, and advanced laser dentistry, is investing in the next generation through the “Knowledge Matters Flax Dental Scholarship Program.”

Every year Flax Dental will award two scholarships in the amount of $500 each to students pursuing a dental assistant program or dental hygiene program at a college or university. In addition, Flax Dental is also offering a $1,700 scholarship through the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) Apex scholarship program, which sends select students to AACD’s renowned Annual Scientific Session to learn from the cosmetic dental world’s finest educators.

Dr. Hugh Flax, an Atlanta-based accredited cosmetic dentist, has dedicated his career to advancing the profession of dentistry. Flax served as past president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), and he is also founder of the Georgia Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Flax often lectures nationally and internationally, teaching other dentists advanced techniques in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. The “Knowledge Matters Flax Dental Scholarship Program” offers Dr. Flax one more way to continue to advance the profession of dentistry.

“At Flax Dental, we believe that knowledge matters when it comes to dentistry. It takes extensive knowledge and skill to provide patients with the highest standard of dental care. That’s why we like to say, ‘At Flax, Dental, what we know will make you smile.’ We want the next generation of dental professionals to be able to, not only share in that knowledge, but also build upon it to take the dental profession even further in the future,” said Dr. Flax.

To qualify for a scholarship, students must be in pursuit of a dental assistant program or a dental hygiene program at a college or university. Applicants must be college students, prospective college students, or graduating high school seniors with a cumulative minimum GPA of at least a 3.0 (4.0 scale). Applicants are invited to submit a 400-600-word essay, which will be judged on the applicant’s effectiveness in presenting a personal point of view, clear communication, and originality.

The deadline for application submission for the Dental Assistant Flax Dental Scholarship ($500) is July 25, 2015. The deadline for application submission for the Dental Hygienist Flax Dental Scholarship ($500) is November 15, 2015.
