1. CALCIVIS LIMITED in Edinburgh, Scotland noted that the first clinical study of its Caries Activity Imaging System has been conducted and confirmed the system’s ability to detect carious lesions. In addition, the system also received the CE Mark. www.calcivis.com
2. ZESTY in the UK raised $7.2 million from a consortium of venture capital firms. This brings the total venture funding to over $9 million. The firm provides a platform to allow consumers to make appointments at dental and medical offices on short notice. Zesty noted that it averages 40,000 booked appointments per month. www.zesty.co.uk
3. DOCPLANNER in Poland raised $10 million from a consortium of venture capital and private capital sources. This brings the total investment in the firm to $11 million. DocPlanner now operates in 25 markets throughout Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America by providing consumers the ability to book appointments in dental, medical and other healthcare offices. www.docplanner.com
4. Check out the latest application of nanotechnology. It’s called the Misoka, and it features bristles coated in nano-sized mineral ions measuring one billionth of a metre in diameter. It does not require toothpaste and the company claims this technology will form a protective coating on your teeth, keeping them clean all day.
