Dr. Dennis F. Weber, MS Histology '63, University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, was a Professor in the Department of Oral Biology of the College from 1974 until his retirement in 1994, and continued to teach at the College until 2007.

He passed away peacefully on March 4, 2014, at age 81.

Dr. Weber developed innovative techniques to study the structure of mineralized tissues focusing on enamel and dentin. The original findings of his research were published in 42 articles and abstracts and also were included in prominent textbooks of Oral Histology.

His excellence in teaching and incomparable ability to simplify complicated structural and developmental details were appreciated by advanced specialty graduate students and dental students, the latter electing him four times for Golden Apple Awards. Dr. Weber also was major advisor to a number of graduate students.

“We have lost a great man who won’t be forgotten,” said Dr. Alaa Al-Aswany, MS ’85, who was one of Dr. Weber’s students.

Dr. Weber is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and children Matthew and Jennifer.
