Ionolux is a new light-cured, resin-modified glass ionomer restorative that offers unique physical properties that benefit both practitioner and patient. These benefits include composite-like aesthetics; an ability to be condensed, shaped and sculpted immediately after application; nonstick handling; improved physical properties for better longevity; and significantly fewer procedural steps.

Composite-like aesthetics and handling are game-changers for practitioners who have shied away from glass ionomers in the past. Ionolux provides a restorative option for patients without sacrificing aesthetics. Additionally, a higher quality of care is achieved—especially for pediatric and geriatric patient populations, where minimizing procedural steps is immensely beneficial. Ionolux reduces procedural steps from 12 to merely five when compared to the market-leading brand. Diminished procedural time means reduced stress levels for both clinicians and patients.

Ionolux is light-cured and allows dentists to begin sculpting and condensing the material immediately after it's been applied and placed. This reduces procedure time and increases the procedure's ROI. With this added control feature, dentists can deliver a fluoride-releasing glass ionomer that behaves like a composite. No conditioning or adhesive is required and the setting time is minimized with the light-cure feature. The best of both worlds is now available and achievable.

Ionolux has great physical properties, including high compressive strength and low water solubility. The material is highly radiopaque and has excellent translucency for better aesthetic results. The range of indications for Ionolux include: Class III and V restorations, primarily cervical fillings and root caries; restorations of deciduous teeth; small Class I restorations; temporary restorations; and core build-ups and linings.

The material comes in Voco's new Direct Activation Capsule and no activator is required, eliminating yet another expense. Simply press the capsule down on a hard surface such as a table and the glass ionomer components at optimal proportions are combined and ready to be mixed. The capsule's low profile makes it easy to access hard-to-reach areas of the mouth, and the capsule fits most standard dispensing guns.

Ionolux is available in five highly aesthetic shades (A1, A2, A3, A3.5 and B1). By adding Ionolux to their daily restorative regimens, dentists can rest assured that they are providing their patients with a fast but highly aesthetic high-fluoride-releasing restorative that elevates the quality of care while saving time and money.
