Every four years, the Townie Choice Awards take on a special meaning—we collect your votes for your favorite dental products and services at the same time you're contemplating your choice for the next president of the United States.

If we've learned nothing else in the election cycle thus far, I think we've realized that it's possible to have an unlikely winner.

The Townie Choice ticket
You hear it every year, and this year is no different: Every vote counts. In the context of the Townie Choice Awards, your votes identify the favorite products in our community, drawn from 158 categories.

Logically, the winners are often the product leaders in the entire profession—but surprises can happen. I sincerely hope you will take the time to do your dental duty and vote.

Each year we work with companies and manufacturers in an effort to keep the products and services on the ballot up to date.

For example, we've witnessed the growth of digital impression options, as well as an increase in the number of dentists “voting” for this technology. Or you might be using a new bonding agent or recently purchased new equipment for your practice. So your ballot is as much an opportunity to identify something new, as it is to honor a long-standing successful product.

Some dentists have never had the opportunity to participate in this process, and others have not voted in a few years. We urge you to take part and let the voice of practicing dentists be heard loud and clear. This is the only award in dentistry that provides every dentist the ability to participate in its selection.

What that other election doesn't offer
If your civic duty is not enough motivation to vote, we do offer prizes—fabulous prizes. Voting is open from July 6 to Sept. 6. Head over to dentaltown.com/tca to begin. Once you complete your ballot, you will have an opportunity to win one of the following:

  • Paid tuition to the 15th annual Townie Meeting

TCA awards Remember to vote soon, because a prize is awarded every two weeks, and early voters will have their names entered in every drawing.

I have hopes that one day we'll collect product reviews from our members throughout the year. The Townie Choice Awards ballot can be formidable, but in a way we may make it too easy for you to simply vote on a large number of products, instead of encouraging you to take a few minutes to write a product review or two. But we need—and welcome—your feedback.
